Industrial Chiller Selection FAQ

Professional answers for chiller sizing calculator users and industrial process cooling buyers.

How is industrial chiller cooling capacity calculated?

Cooling capacity can be estimated from flow rate and temperature difference. For water cooling, Q(kW) = Flow(L/min) × 4.186 × ΔT(°C) / 60. A safety factor is normally added for real industrial conditions.

Is this tool a final chiller selection?

No. This tool provides preliminary engineering selection only. Final chiller design should be confirmed by APT engineers according to heat load, coolant properties, pump head, ambient temperature, installation environment and electrical standards.

When should I choose a T3 high-ambient chiller?

A T3 high-ambient chiller is recommended for hot climates, outdoor installation, Middle East projects or sites where ambient temperature may reach 40-45°C or higher.

Do corrosive liquids require titanium heat exchangers?

Corrosive liquids such as plating solution, anodizing chemicals, seawater or some chemical fluids usually require titanium, stainless steel or anti-corrosion heat exchanger options. Final material should be confirmed according to the liquid composition.

What applications may require explosion-proof chillers?

Chemical extraction, solvent processes, flammable gas areas and classified electrical environments may require explosion-proof chiller configuration. The final explosion-proof level should follow local safety standards.

When is a water-cooled chiller recommended?

Water-cooled chillers are often recommended for large cooling capacity, high ambient temperature, indoor installation, central cooling systems or applications requiring higher efficiency and stable condenser performance.

What information should I provide for an accurate quotation?

Please provide application, heat load or flow rate, inlet and outlet temperature, coolant type, ambient temperature, voltage, pump distance, installation location and special requirements such as explosion-proof, titanium or PLC control.

Can APT customize the chiller configuration?

Yes. APT can customize cooling capacity, compressor type, evaporator material, condenser design, pump, tank, electrical cabinet, PLC control, voltage and protection options according to project requirements.
